This year I will be sending out information using the High School Years newsletter. This will contain practical ideas for parents in helping ensure school success and improve parent involvement in their students school. The pictures included are a sample of what you will see each month.
On Friday, SHS students took part in the Back to School Mixer/Club Signup/1st Pep Assembly sponsored by StuCo.
Due to low numbers Stockton High School will not be giving the ACT on Saturday, September 14. The students who were registered should be notified by ACT through email.

Grades K-4 students are coming home with PTO fundraising packets. Catch your nearest SES kiddo to check out the catalogue or get the link to visit the online store. Funds raised help support special activities, projects, and field trips for our Stockton classes!
Shout out of appreciation to the SHS Gym Boosters for the purchase of new volleyball poles, nets, and padding for the high school volleyball program.
New nets, pads and poles were also purchased for the jr high program through Sertoma and Stockton Schools. Thanks to everyone who supports our school programs. Go Tigers!
On Monday, 8/26, the 1st faculty professional development day of the new school year, Stockton faculty and staff had the opportunity to hear Mr. John Antonetti speak on “The Power of Student Engagement.” Mr. Antonetti is a nationally recognized speaker and author on various educational topics. He is also a former teacher and administrator in Arkansas.
Lunch was provided by Sgt. Doug Dixon, the local recruiter for the Army National Guard.

Over 20 parents, former students, and Stockton friends donated funds or copies of the book Wonder to third grade. This has allowed each class to begin the year with the reading of Wonder by R. J. Palacio. What a wonderful story to share together and discuss the message Choose Kind.
MS 1st Quarter 7th Grade Art “Be the One”
Stockton R-1 is looking for a Para-Professional for the 2019-2020 school year. The applicant must obtain a Substitute Certificate or the Para-Pro. Applications can be found in the central office or on the Stockton R-1 school website. Please return applications to the central office.
Elementary students created farm inspired art projects during their first art classes of the year.

Brad Gamble is an expert on financial aid and will discuss the FAFSA, college loans, grants and scholarships.
Parents are encouraged to attend with their student.
Last spring, the kindergarteners planted tomatoes and peppers in the school garden. Now, as first graders, they are enjoying the benefits of their hard work and the passage of time.
Just a reminder - parents must drop off medications directly to the school nurse. Students cannot carry medications to school.
Just a reminder, picture day is this Friday August 23rd. Extra picture packets forms are in the offices.
Scores from last spring's grade level assessments, grades 3-8, are now available. The results may be picked up in the Elementary and Middle School offices. Test results not picked up at this time will be distributed during Parent-Teacher Conferences.
