On advice from the Cedar County Health Department, Stockton Schools will close starting Wednesday, March 18 through March 27th. A decision will be made at that time whether to return to school or not. During this time, all activities, including practices, games, and student meetings will be canceled.
See the attached letter regarding school closure. We will be in session on Tuesday, March 17th, but close for COVID-19 from March 18-March 27th. At that time, it will be re-evaluated.

SMS 8th graders visited the HS today to get a glimpse of their new home for the next four years. HS student ambassadors took groups on tours of the elective areas and core areas where students were able to hear from their future teachers. Mr. Postlewait introduced and discussed the A+ scholarship program requirements, and Mr. Burns conducted pre-enrollment with the students. Thanks for having us!

SHS StuCo members had posters of appreciation made for the quick response by our local fire, sheriff, first responders, and ambulance departments for the fire alarm call that went out on Thursday right before the end of school. The school was evacuated as a precaution according to fire drill procedures.

Today Stockton High School FBLA students treated the residents of the Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility to a Spa Day. Residents had their hair, makeup and nails done! The Spa Day was complete with a photo shoot in the new cafe!

Scholar Bowl took a team of five to the Fair Grove Invitational on Saturday, March 7th. The Invitational was comprised of 28 teams from the Greater Southwest of Missouri. They went 6-3 in pool play coming in third in their pool, and went into the consolation bracket against Strafford in a close game that came down to the wire in the 20th Round on the tossup question. They lost, but went on to win the next two matches against Strafford B and won a rematch against Richland to finish 8-4 on the day and a 7th place in the tournament. Michael Brown received a medal for tying 7th amongst point leaders averaging 52.4 points a game in pool play and his second medal so far by placing 5th in points per game at districts at Forsyth in early February. Next tournament is at Joplin Christian Academy, March 28th.

The Stockton Community Teachers Association will host the Board of Education Candidate Forum on March 19, 2020. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Library. During the event, candidates will be given an opportunity to respond to the following questions:

The governor supports increasing teacher salaries, but does not plan to increase funding for this initiative. Where do you stand on this issue, and how would you plan to keep teacher salaries competitive?
Stockton School District has seen a steady decline in enrollment during the past few years. Moving forward, what do you see as the fiscal priorities as the enrollment and budget decreases?
How do you feel about homeschool students participating in Stockton school extracurricular activities?
What could be done to increase parent involvement?

Stockton High School Students: This is a friendly reminder that ALL money is due for prom tomorrow, March 6th. This includes any underclassmen dues and/or guest fee. The cost for guest/underclassman is $100. Please bring all dues and/or guest fees to Mrs. Vaughn in the HS Library. Table sign-ups will begin next Tuesday, March 10th, in the library.
