Dear Parents and Guardians, Please complete the following survey to help us in developing plans for opening school in the Fall. At this time, we are working on a number of ways to provide education services to students in a safe manner. While we all hope school looks the same as it has in the past, we need to prepare for a number of scenarios. The information provided in this survey will help us formulate those plans. When completing the survey, please do so with your student(s). We would like to have feedback about our strengths and weaknesses during virtual learning at the end of the school year. There is also a comment section at the bottom of the survey and we encourage you to provide information you feel is important. This information will help us make local decisions along with the guidance provided by the state and the local health department. Please have the survey completed by Monday, July 6th. Thank you for your time as we prepare for next year. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc5kLu3X5LvaFaHfjT7QIaO-evwxEJX72Br3M01BSQ1tjBoTw/viewform

Class of 2020 Seniors and Parents: After watching the weather forecast through early Sunday morning, and taking into account how much rain we have already received, the decision has been made to move graduation from the football field to the high school gymnasium at 2pm. Doors will be open at 1:30 for students/parents/guests to enter. Students please go directly to the band room upon arrival. Students will be issued a mask and gloves to wear during the ceremony. Because of this weather related change in location, I want to stress the importance of following the “6 Guest Rule” for graduation and that guests bring their tickets with them. The gym has been separated into seating areas of 6 already. Please have all of your guests arrive and sit together to help maximize the social distancing space we have available. I understand that not everyone will be able to attend due to the 6 guest limit as in the past but hopefully everyone will follow the guidelines so that graduation can be remembered for the right reasons. Family members, friends, community members and staff members who are not able to attend due to the 6 guest limit can view the event on the Stockton R-1 School Facebook page through live feed. For everyone’s health safety and peace of mind, I strongly urge you to take advantage of this option. If you are sick, do not feel well, are running a fever or are among those who are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19, please stay home for your health safety and the safety of others. Once the ceremony is over, please exit the gym immediately. Only by adhering to these guidelines are we able to hold graduation in this manner at this time and for these students. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. I have attached pictures of how the gym seating will be identified so that everyone can see the precautions already taken to assist in social distancing protocol. Mr. Postlewait, SHS Principal

Attention Class of 2020 There are two items that I need you to take note of: 1) It is imperative that all seniors complete a Senior Graduation Exit Survey. This must be completed no later than May 3, 2020. Please complete the survey very carefully. **Please use your school email and login to the site listed below to complete the Senior Graduation Exit Survey. Deadline is May 3. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeP_kXT3WWhc6JvoPAymvybFweWrzH7HokP26PMa4Q7UZew8A/viewform?usp=sf_link 2) We will not be able to host a senior awards night in the traditional manner this year, but we would like to recognize seniors for their scholarship/academic accomplishments in a virtual format. This presentation will only include scholarships and awards typically recognized by the guidance department. It will not include senior awards recognized by individual teachers. We plan to post a presentation on the Stockton School Facebook page on Wednesday, May 13 at 6:00 pm. We will be recognizing students who have been selected to receive local scholarships, but we would like to include all scholarships. This would include any scholarship that you have been selected to receive. We can only recognize the scholarships that you tell us about. The colleges do not release this information to us. Also, we are offering our presenters a chance to make a short video clip or write a message that we can read about the scholarship. Presenters can send a video clip directly to the emails listed below and we will add it to the presentation. Students may also contact presenters themselves to see if they would like to submit a clip or write a message. If you have a contact person who would be willing to make a short video clip or write a message have them send their presentation to one of the following addresses no later than May 3. kburns@stockton.k12.mo.us jquick@stockton.k12.mo.us

Class of 2020 seniors and parents: As Dr. Snow indicated earlier today, we are planning on graduation for May 17th at 2 pm on the football field observing social distancing procedures which are in place. Students will have a limit of 6 guests who can attend. You will be able to have a walking partner. We will also have speeches from the class president, valedictorian, and salutatorian along with my remarks. If you are a senior currently failing a required class for graduation, you must be passing in order to participate. Teachers have been working hard to get you the materials and opportunities to be successful. Take advantage of this. Work turned in will receive a grade that can only help you. Get it turned in. Next packet pickup and completed work drop off will be on April 30th at the high school circle drive or sent to you electronically. Parents and students, Due to the continued concerns related to Covid-19, and the extension of school being closed through April 24th, Stockton R-1 Schools has made the decision to cancel Prom on April 18th. If conditions improve before graduation time, we will make every effort to have a scaled down version of Prom for students at a later date. However, at this time, there are no guarantees. If the Covid-19 guidelines change where large groups can be together, a reschedule date will be announced. I have been in contact with The Venue and they have agreed to refund the money that had been collected for the reservation. Those who were planning on bringing underclassmen or outside guests will have the $100 fee reimbursed. Be safe and know that we are thinking about you everyday. Go Tigers!

They got together to read them and then vote for their favorites. The winner was "The Brain is Kind of a Big Deal" sent to us from 4th grade teacher Mrs. Bays. Hey kids! What's your favorite book you've read this past week?

The Stockton Community Teachers Association will host the Board of Education Candidate Forum on March 19, 2020. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Library. During the event, candidates will be given an opportunity to respond to the following questions: As a potential board member, what is your highest priority? The governor supports increasing teacher salaries, but does not plan to increase funding for this initiative. Where do you stand on this issue, and how would you plan to keep teacher salaries competitive? Stockton School District has seen a steady decline in enrollment during the past few years. Moving forward, what do you see as the fiscal priorities as the enrollment and budget decreases? How do you feel about homeschool students participating in Stockton school extracurricular activities? What could be done to increase parent involvement? The public is encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be provided.

Dear Parent; The Stockton R-1 School District has been notified by the Cedar County Health Department (CCHD) that some of our students have had confirmed exposure to the mumps from a nearby community. According to information from the CCHD the incubation period of mumps is 16 to 18 days. The initial symptoms are flu-like including body aches, lack of appetite, headache, and low-grade fever. Mumps is generally characterized by swelling of one or more salivary glands, usually the parotid glands. If you feel your child has symptoms, please seek a medical evaluation from your physician. We have policies and guidelines that we must follow in such a situation. Please understand that we are NOT TO THE OUTBREAK STATUS. This letter is to inform everyone of the exposure and what will happen if an outbreak occurs. As per district Regulation 2850, In the event of an outbreak, students who are exempt from immunizations for any reason will be excluded from school for their own protection and that of other students, in accordance with State Rule 13 CSR 50-101.0412. The only exception will be students exempted by a physician because they have already had the disease and have available laboratory confirmation of immunity. We realize this is concerning for everyone in the community. If you have questions or concerns, please call either my office or school nurse, Karen Collins. If you are unsure of the status of your child’s immunization records, please call Karen Collins at 417-276-5143 ext. 222. She can update you on what we have on file for your child. We will monitor student health and be in contact with the Cedar County Health Department. If we receive additional information, we will forward it you parents as soon as possible. Check our website and Facebook page for information. Sincerely, Shannon D. Snow Superintendent

Middle School members of the Tater Taco Toaster Strudel (TTTS) Teen Outreach Program (TOP) Club were treated to an end of semester reward party today. Students enjoyed a free buffet lunch at Simple Simon’s, and played a fun Christmas gift game that helped test the listening skills they’ve worked on during some of our lessons during the semester. The reward party also served as a celebration to recognize the students for their hard work and participation in several Community Service Learning (CSL) projects this semester, such as volunteering during Halloween in the Park, making Veterans Day cards and treat bags for soldiers overseas, and making homemade Christmas ornaments for the nursing home. Thank you, students, for a job well done! TOP Club will resume on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

The Tiger Band and Band Boosters have an interesting and unique fundraiser in the High School Commons tomorrow, November 23! Custom Fundraising Solutions, based on Springfield, will display about two dozen varieties of mattresses from 10 am to 5 pm, and take orders for delivery based on your needs. Brands include Simmons and Malouf. First-quality products, not factory seconds, at a greatly reduced price. This is not a high-pressure sales event...we simply want to offer something that each household needs at some time or another, and the products are worth a look to come in and browse at your leisure. The band receives a portion of each sale, which we will allocate to activities later in the school year. Cash, debit/credit card, checks accepted. Financing available, and our late date for this before the end of the year delays payments to 2020. Free delivery takes place within the next three weeks. ($20-$30 fee for removal of an old mattress if you wish to have it hauled off.) Bedding, sheets, pillows, etc. will be on hand for purchase to take home that day while supplies last, then orders will be taken.

The district became aware of a rumor that an elementary student had brought a gun to school. However, it did not come to our attention until after the school day ended. After investigation by administrators and the resource officers, it turned out to be a toy. This post is to: 1. Encourage everyone to report anything out of the ordinary to an adult in charge as soon as possible. 2. Reassure everyone there is no danger for this incident. 3. Remind everyone that toy guns, knives, etc. are not supposed to be brought to school. If anyone has any questions, please call my office on Monday. Shannon Snow

There's been some sneaky secret keepers at SES this week. Student leaders (and perhaps a few helpers) planned a "Reverse Tiger Pride Assembly" for the elementary teachers and staff. They were presented awards from students! Teachers also had to "come to the carpet" for a read aloud. Beautiful art work was created and displayed as students sang their version of "What a Wonderful World (School)." Even Dr. Crawford played his guitar and sang! Thanks kids for making the assembly so special!
