Parents, the response to the Tiger Cub Club has been overwhelming! We are out of several sizes of shirts, but have placed another order that will be in next week. Students who have paid will still be able to participate tonight at the game. We will have a list of names of paid students. Students who still want to participate can pay tonight at the gate. The cost is $5 for the shirt and students in grade K-6 will be able to get into all varsity regular home games for free, wearing their shirt. There will be a designated area for students to sit. 3rd graders are learning the difference in primary & secondary sources as they study Cedar County/MO's history. Today they learned about the Big Eddy dig that took place just outside Stockton about 20 yrs ago. Third graders have been studying the Scientific Method and designing experiments based on research. After doing a "pretend experiment" last week finding out if a dog was left pawed or right pawed, they did it for real with Stockton's new therapy dog, Domino! Their conclusion? He's left pawed, just like the majority of male dogs.

This is a message for Stockton Middle School 8th grade students. According to state law students entering 8th grade must have proof of vaccinations including MCV and TDaP - or an exemption on file. This will be in effect the first day of school.

Reminder to students in Summer School- School will be in session Monday - Friday. 8:00-3:25. Doors are unlocked at 7:30.
Summer School starts tomorrow, Tuesday May 29th. Breakfast will open at 7:30 am and class will start at 8:00 am. Remember that perfect attendance means perfect. An absence may be excused however, the attendance is not perfect if your child is not there. Please make sure your child is in class everyday by 8:00 to qualify for the $100. All students will report to the elementary/middle school cafeteria each morning and will be released to their teacher from there. You can also look at the approximate bus pick up times. The office phones are busy so please be patient. All messages left on phones are checked. The teachers have a lot of fun activities planned for the students and there are several daily prizes given away.

Stockton R-1 is seeking an individual for the 2018-2019 school year to work as the district’s Parents as Teacher employee. Qualifications- The minimum qualifications for parent educators are a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent degree outside the United States) and two years’ previous supervised work experience with young children and/or parents. Pay is $50 per visit and $25 per screening. You can get more details from Doug Crawford by contacting the elementary office.
All the boys who competed at track sectionals in Odessa advanced to state. The high school will hold a docudrama presentation tomorrow behind the high school in which involved members of Students Aware will set up and perform for the high school student body. The scene that will be presented is an “after prom” theme. We will set up a scenario in which one car, occupied by a drunk driver and friends, collides with a second car filled with sober occupants. First responders, the fire department, police department, EMT’s and the coroner will all be a part of this scene as well. The Air-Evac team from CMH may participate if available. Please note, there will be emergency personnel rushing to the scene with lights and sirens. There will be a room designated for students that wish to opt out.

Students reported alleged threats of violence towards the school today by an individual who is not a student or associated with the school. Law enforcement was notified and, after investigation, any threats were deemed unfounded. We take threats very seriously, and are always vigilant about safety. The Tiger Cares Market was announced yesterday and since that announcement we have had a beautiful response from the community asking how they can help. Donations to the market can be dropped off at the Superintendent's office during the week. Donations can be any item on the list or in cash. When donating items such as detergent, smaller bottles or "pods" are best so they can be distributed easier to the student.
Reading to your young child is very important to their success and interest in reading. Polk County is conducting a manhunt in the Fair Play area. We have been in contact with law enforcement who have the search isolated to Polk County. Therefore, we will release school as usual. Bus drivers on the east side of Cedar County will make sure students make it in the door before going on.
Bus 2 will be running approximately 20 minutes behind this morning.
School will release for Christmas break at the regular release time on Thursday, December 21st. Merry Christmas!
